April Showers: Savvy (and Stylish!) Solutions

Rain, rain, go away! I know those May flowers are on their way soon, but do we really need all this rain in the meantime?

Luckily for us, there are some pretty amazing (and adorable) solutions out there to keeping your hair, clothes– and even your handbag — dry while it’s raining cats and dogs.

Here are a few of my favorites!

Handbag Raincoat

How genius is this?? The lovely ladies at ABPR introduced me to this clever little invention to keep your precious purse protected on rainy days. “The Handbag Raincoat is a fashion and design driven accessory that allows women to look stylish while protecting their most prized handbags anytime the weather goes awry.  Available in three sizes, the Handbag Raincoat’s polyurethane-based material protects any sized bag from a cross-body to a tote, with an easy-to-use Velcro top that accommodates any handle.  As an added bonus, each product comes with a raindrop-printed pouch, allowing you to safely store your Handbag Raincoat at the bottom of your purse. The Handbag Raincoat ranges from $25-$30 and confirmed retailers to-date include Bloomingdale’s, Shopbop, Sam and Lex, HandbagRaincoat.com and more.”

(Actually) Cute Rain Coats

Believe it or not, there are some really adorable raincoats out there. Before you know it, you might be doing a raindance just so you can wear yours! My pick? This “Rainy Day Mac” from Boden USA (from $106).

Rain Boots Fit for a Queen

Thanks to Kate Middleton, practical rain boots have gone from “should” to “chic.”  You can get your own wonderful wellies and be just like Kate with Le Chameau Chasseur boots – but they don’t come cheap ($480, from Zappos.com)

Want the look for less? Try Original Slim Textured Rain Boots from HUNTER ($138) or the Jennifer Rain Boot from Kamik ($50)

Under My Umbrella-ella-ellas

Umbrellas are one of the easiest ways to make a statement in bad weather. Remember how effortlessly chic Blair Waldorf looked with her clear umbrella in Gossip Girl? (RIP, GG). Perfection.

My favorite umbrellas are from British designer Lulu Guinness. I bought my first Lulu umbrella when I was living in London in college and have never looked back! My picks for this spring: the classic clear Birdcage umbrella ($55) and the kitschy red cut-out lips Kensington umbrella ($55).
