Five on Friday // 5 Trends to Try this Fall

September is here, so it’s time to start taking inventory of what’s in your closet — and what you should add in!

For this week’s Five on Friday, here are five trends to try this fall — I know I will be!

1. The Tulle Skirt

Looks like Fall 2013 might be the moment to bust out my old circa "Sex and the City is new on HBO" ballerina skirt. Mine has an elastic waist, so I'll need to find a cute belt for it.

Fashion bloggers have loved this look for a while now, but I’m just now getting up the courage to wear these on the streets. I just purchased a black one and a pink one off of Amazon for a steal! The key to looking fashion-forward and not like a prima ballerina is to pair with modern silhouettes up top (try a chambray button-down), edgy accessories, and tasteful, minimalist shoes. Shop the look: $14.99 on Amazon.

2. The Modern Clubmaster

While I love Ray-Ban’s original Clubmasters, adding a wacky, geeky twist makes them even more hip and on-trend. Shop the look: Urban Outfitters Quay Ziggi Cat-Eye Sunglasses, $40

3. Oxblood Nail Polish.

A dramatic twist on classic red. Perfect transition from summer to fall! Shop the look: OPI Bastille My Heart, $6.98

4. Cable knit Sweaters

Always a cool-weather staple, the cable knit sweater is making a comeback. Shop the look: Hinge Cable Knit Sweater, $38.98, Nordstrom

5. Pantone Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid

Try a pop of color with Pantone’s Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid. Shop the look: Amrita Singh “Chelsea” Necklace, $25
